FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Have questions? You've come to the right place.

Q. Do you offer Financial assistance?
A.

For our Accelerated and Part Time Program, we offer a flexible payment installment plan that does not require credit approval or interest. We require a deposit and will automatically deduct monthly payments each month until you are paid in full. The payment plan does include a $500 maintenance fee.  Contact Us today to get started setting up your flexible payment plan.

Q. Do you offer financial assistance for Intro classes or private lessons?
A.

No, we do not. All Intro classes and private lessons must be paid in full at the time of registration.

Q. Do you accept military aid or government assistance?
A.

These programs are only for accredited nonprofit institutions, which we are not at this time. We are a recreational learning center; therefore we are unable to accept these programs.

Q. I have paid in-full for the Certification program and cannot complete it, can I receive a refund?
A.

The Program is nonrefundable. However, if you are a Part Time student, you are welcome to take a term off and return. Please note, students are only allowed one term off. If you take more than one term off, then a $500 re-entry fee will be enforced as well as a new evaluation to see if any Levels need to be retaken. If a Level needs to be retaken, then an additional cost will be incurred by the student. In cases of relocation, there may also be an opportunity to complete programming at another of our Scratch DJ Academy locations.

Q. Can I audit a class and then decide if I want to join and pay?
A.

We do not offer audits of any classes. Due to the highly interactive nature of our courses, we believe the best way to learn is to do. We encourage you to contact us to schedule a tour of the academy, where you will have a chance to experience the Scratch DJ Academy and meet with potential instructors.

Q. I registered for the Intro course and have been to two classes, but cannot continue, can I get a refund?

Any Intro or Level 1 cancellation is levied a $50 cancellation fee as well as $75 per class up until the 3rd class.  We are happy to refund the balance. No refunds are given once two class dates in the term have passed.

Q. How do private lessons work?
A.

One-hour private lessons can be purchased in 1, 5 or 10 packs. Once purchased, please contact the Academy of your choice to set up your first lesson time based on your  availability.  Depending on your experience and interests, we are happy to pair you with an instructor we believe will be perfect for you. Private lessons must be used within 6 months from the time of purchase. Private Lessons are non-refundable.

Q. Do you offer private lessons that two people can attend together?
A.

Yes, we do offer private lessons for 2 people to take together. Please email the Academy for pricing and additional information.

Q. I want to do DJ Certification, but will not be available for the next couple of months, what are my options?
A.

We offer start dates for DJ Certification year round; simply select a future date that works for you. All schedules are online.

Q. Do you offer DJ Certification for kids?
A.

Not at this time. We do offer after school programming as well as summer camp options for our younger DJs. Private lessons are also available year-round.

Q. How long does it take to complete the DJ Certification?
A.

This DJ Certification program can be completed in 48 weeks. This does not include breaks between classes or holidays.   You do have the option to take off one term.  If you plan on taking off more than one term, then a $500 re-entry fee is applied and an evaluation may need to occur in order to assess what Level you will re-enter into.

Q. What happens if I miss a week of class? Do I get a make up?
A.

Our weekly supervised practice offers a perfect opportunity to interact with an instructor and catch up on what you missed.

Q. Do I have to have my own equipment for class?
A.

We provide everything you need for class. Most intermediate/advanced students do find bringing their own laptops and Headphones to class is helpful.

Q. What is the difference between the DJ Certification and DJ Certification (Accelerated)?
A.

Our DJ Certification meets once or twice a week during evening or weekend hours. Once joining the DJ Certification program, students stay with the same day and time for all their Levels until completion of the program. The DJ Certification program is typically 48 weeks in length which doesn’t include breaks between classes and holidays.

Our Accelerated program is geared for the student that has the flexibility to attend classes during the day on weekdays. This Track typically meets at least twice weekly and has no breaks built in. The classes are small & intimate, and you will stay with the same classmates for the duration of the track. The Accelerated Program is typically 32 weeks in length.

The Accelerated DJ Certification is not offered as often as our regular DJ Certification due to demand.

Q. Does Scratch help us get gigs after we complete the DJ Certification Course?
A.

Our instructors will guide students through the process of going after your own gigs in Level Seven, our Business class. However, we do not offer any job placement, aside from the guaranteed evaluation as part of the Accelerated program.

Q. Do you offer anything for seasoned professionals?
A.

Yes! Private lessons are perfect if you are looking to perfect a technique or want to learn new gear. Contact us and let us know what you’re looking to do and we’ll set you up with the perfect instructor for you.

We also offer specialty workshops throughout the year that are open to the public. Topics range from business to new gear on the market.

Q. I am an International student; do you offer educational VISAs and help with living arrangements?
A.

Because our classes are for personal enrichment and are less than 18 hours a week, international students coming to the U.S. primarily for tourism may be allowed to visit the U.S. on a visitor (B) visa and take our courses during their stay. Please note that we are not able to offer educational visas.
For more information, please visit the U.S. Department of State website here:http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en.html.

Unfortunately, we cannot help with living arrangements, however there are great sites that can help, such as Airbnb.com, VRBO.com or www.hiusa.org.

Q. How old do I have to be to enroll in Intro or the DJ Certification?
A.

We require all students to be at least 18 years of age to participate in our Intro or DJ Certification programs.

We offer After School programming and Summer Camps for students between the ages of 10 and 17. Students younger than 10 are welcome to take private lessons.

Q. What is the refund policy for Summer Camp?
A.

Camp enrollment is 100% refundable up until one month prior to the camp start date. Any cancellation after that time will not be issued a refund. Campers may switch camp dates subject to availability up to June 1.

Q. What if Scratch needs to reschedule a class or lesson?
A.

There are rare situations that would require Scratch to reschedule a group class session or private lesson to a later date then originally scheduled (mass power outage, state of emergency). In the event of a reschedule, the head instructor of the your course or lesson will be in touch ASAP via email with info on your makeup date(s) and/or further instruction.
