DJ purists and critics have long had strong opinions on current state and future of DJ culture. Depending on who you ask today , DJing is either “sync button buffoonery” or the most exciting it’s been in years.

We most ceratinly agree with the latter. Seemingly A-Trak does too. He and Fool’s Gold have partnered with TMWRK, Noisey and Thump to present The Goldie Awards – a beat battle and DJ competition to be held in New York City in September.

Unlike other DJ battles, applicants can enter using any piece of equipment they want. To enter, contestants can submit one-minute videos to Instagram using a hashtag.
